Drawing its title from the writings of Gertrude Stein, this survey of twelve women artists living and working across the vast expanse of the Canadian prairies weaves together issues of time and identity through mediating histories ranging from from craft to Modernism. Born from Amy Fung’s travels and encounters, these essays, stories and biographies provide the reader with a conceptual voyage where place and gender meet. Featured artists are Amalie Atkins, Heather Benning, Jennifer Bowes, Tammi Campbell, Brenda Draney, Sarah Anne Johnson, Wednesday Lupypciw, Maria Madacky, Mary-Anne McTrowe, Divya Mehra, Jennifer Stillwell, and Leesa Streifler. Essays by Anthea Black & Nicole Burisch, Joan Borsa, Shawna Dempsey & Lorri Millan. Co-published with Art Gallery of Grande Prairie and School of Art Gallery, University of Manitoba.
